Poster: Towards a High-Pressure Structural Biology Instrumentation Suite at CHESS

With the oceans covering over 70% of the surface, having an average depth of over 2 miles, extending to ~7 mile at the extremes, it is not surprising that life exists and adapts to thrive under pressure extremes.

Pressure dependent SAXS and crystallography are important towards explaining how biomolecules react to extreme pressure, and, therefore, how life adapts to environments of different pressures.

CHESS provides a demonstrated capability to perform high-pressure SAXS and crystallography, that is unique in the United States and the hemisphere.
